Oregon's rugged beauty complete with mountains, seacoasts and vast forests, attracts millions of tourists and outdoors - men each year. Crater Lake, Cascade Mountains, Columbia River Gorge, Hells Canyon and the Snake River provide some of the most spectacular sights in the U.S.

Known as the Beaver State, its early growth was tied to the fur - trading industry. The Oregon Trail ended in the rich Willamette Valley. The state capital at Salem was established in 1855. The present state house was completed in 1939 after fire destroyed the original building.
